1. Лично, непосредственно (не в записи, без фонограммы). Услышать рок-ансамбль в. Петь в. (о певце).
2. Наглядно, своими глазами. Увидеть в. знаменитого футболиста.
r1 "своими глазами" by one own eyes (亲眼), but what is meant by "Наглядно"?
Адов: r1 "своими глазами" by one own eyes (亲眼), but what is meant by "Наглядно"?
Damned if I know I mean, generally it is used as an adjective which describes an explanation or demonstration of some sort.
"Инструктор наглядно продемонстрировал технику оказания первой помощи" - it means that this first aid technique was shown by the instructor, not just explained. Actually продемонстрировал implies the same thing, наглядно only intensifying the effect and telling us that probably some visual aids were involved.
But here in your example... I am at a loss, frankly. Never seen наглядно used in that way. I think they just couldn't find a better synonym.
This meaning 2 is actually quite close to #1. Увидеть вживую футболиста = See him "live", that is, not on TV, not on a poster, to see him with your one eyes, being in the same place with him.
But that is a colloquial word. Живьем can also be used in that meaning. "Я его видел живьем, вот прямо как тебя!"
Wikidictionary里面是这样解释的: при непосредственном контакте, своими глазами
([ref] https://ru.m.wiktionary.org/wiki/вживую [/ref])
里面也举了两个例子
1. Вживую ёлка выглядела намного красивее, чем на фотографии.
2. ...где ему дали посмотреть вживую на нескольких контрактников.
Адов: But what if by Skype or WeChat, video call?
Is this вживую?
No, it's not. So "Вживую, но через вичат" sounds a bit comical.
Of course, other people can have other notions. For some, "live" may include video-chatting, maybe. But I think this is not the case in that thread - that is why they asked the OP about his/her location. Вживую means IRL
