遵时养晦
zūn shí yǎng huì
遵遵循，按照；时时势；晦隐藏。原为颂扬周武王顺应时势，退守待时◇多指暂时隐居，等待时机。
同“遵养时晦”。
明张煌言《上监国启》：“昨差官自思明州回，始知主上移跸金门之信。当此汉厄未回，即遵时养晦，尚无其地，是臣所为日夕旁徨者也。”

bide one's time during a period of ill luck; dwell in retirement, waiting for the appropriate time to come; live in seclusion and wait for a better chance
zūnshíyǎnghuì
1) live in retirement and wait for the right time for a comeback in public life
2) bide one's time during a period of ill luck
